Social Enterprise Continues to Create Meaningful Work for Visually Impaired
Lighthouse Works, an organization that provides competitive job opportunities for individuals who are blind and visually impaired, recently received an employer appreciation award from the Florida Rehabilitation Council for the Blind and the Division of Blind Services.
The recognition comes amid a milestone year of providing life changing career opportunities for Floridians who are visually impaired. Since January 1, 2022, Lighthouse Works has hired over 85 blind or visually impaired individuals across the state of Florida in remote, work-from-home positions to staff its Contact Center. The organization just passed a major milestone – hiring its 500th employee.
“We’re proud of our employees for earning this acknowledgement, which supports what we have always known – their work is essential to helping customers navigate their needs, often at a critical time,” said Kyle Johnson, President and CEO at Lighthouse Works and Lighthouse Central Florida. “This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible support and partnership of the Division of Blind Services who helps to connect us with individuals seeking new career opportunities.”
Since March of 2020, Lighthouse Works, the social enterprise arm of Lighthouse Central Florida, has added close to 400 new jobs and has experienced 300% in annual growth in the last year alone. Lighthouse Works is still recruiting to fill 90 job openings. To browse the job descriptions, visit https://www.lighthouseworks.org/careers.
