Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital names new Chief Quality Officer

 Amit Bansal, MD MBA has joined Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital as chief quality officer (CQO) and assistant vice president, Orlando Health. In his role as CQO, Dr. Bansal collaborates with leadership and medical staff to support activities, processes, and policies resulting in high quality patient care driven by system-wide clinical practices and standards. 

 

Dr. Bansal comes from Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pennsylvania where he, most recently, served as division chief of hospital medicine for the central region and as physician advisor.  In this capacity, he oversaw a hospitalist group with more than 70 physician and advanced practice providers and was instrumental in driving improvement in several quality initiatives, including raising the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) star rating from one to four stars.  He has also been extensively involved in driving improvements in readmissions, length of stay and patient experience.

Dr. Bansal earned his degree in medicine from University College of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi, India and completed his internal medicine residency at Guthrie Health – Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.  He earned his MBA at the University of Massachusetts. 

 

Dr. Bansal began his CQO role at Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips on July 1, 2022.
