TITUSVILLE — Titusville Fire Department (TFD) presented Jess Parrish Medical Foundation (JPMF) with $3,300 in support of cancer care programs at Parrish Medical Center (PMC). Since the inception of the annual Pink Out Campaign, TFD has raised more than $15,000 to support the Cancer Care program at Parrish Medical Center. 

            Titusville Fire Department showed their support by going pink for the cause with their 2021 Pink Out campaign. During the month of October, as part of nationwide and local efforts to raise breast cancer awareness, department members sold and wore pink-themed T-shirts in place of their uniform shirts in observance of breast cancer awareness month.

For the seventh year, Titusville Fire has generously given back to JPMF and supported PMC’s cancer care program. In addition to releasing a new design for the limited edition TFD Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirt provided by Printboy, two options for stainless steel tumblers courtesy of River Edge Designs were added to Pink Out campaign fundraising selections. 

“The 2021 Pink Out Campaign was the most successful to date for TFD. Social media, online ordering, the addition of new items and numerous longtime supporters of the campaign contributed to our fundraising success,” stated Gregory Sutton, battalion chief.

New this year, TFD sought nominations from the community to honor those who have completed or are currently undergoing breast cancer treatment.  Five of the nominees were selected and each was presented with a limited edition T-shirt and tumbler by several Titusville Fire personnel that arrived unexpectedly to surprise the recipients. “The moments with survivors left a lasting impression with us, said Sutton. The experience was emotional, rewarding, and truly brought home the importance of breast cancer treatment and awareness. We look forward to next year’s campaign, our continued partnership with JPMF and giving back to those we serve.”

“Nationwide cancer screenings decreased during the COVID pandemic, yet PMC ensured screenings remained a top priority. The Cancer Care program at Parrish, the area’s only program that is nationally accredited by the Commission on Cancer, was able to continue providing free life-saving mammograms to those most in need; those that are out of work, under-insured or without insurance, and those struggling with high deductibles,” said Shannon Luker, PMC breast health navigator and oncology program coordinator. “We are grateful to TFD and all those in the community that supported this year’s Pink Out campaign.  It is gratifying to be part of a community that comes together to help provide the much needed resources for cancer screenings that enable us to identify cancer in earlier stages, resulting in better patient outcomes.”
