“Due to recent decisions by the federal courts to block the CMS vaccine mandate, we are suspending the vaccination requirements prescribed by this mandate. We will continue to monitor the ongoing litigation regarding the federal law,” AdventHealth representative Jeff Grainger said in a statement Thursday afternoon.
With that notice, the health system backed away from the mandate aimed at its workforce.
AdventHealth had previously sent a letter to employees giving them until December 6 to get vaccinated with any one of the three approved vaccines, followed by a deadline of January 4 to obtain the second shot or face suspension.
The company will continue to strongly encourage employees to voluntarily accept the vaccinations.
