Kiran Tipirneni, M.D., F.A.C.S., completed his 100th Inspire procedure on Thursday, May 13, 2021. Throughout the country, less than 5% of 400 eligible surgeons have completed this many cases.

What is Inspire? Inspire therapy is a surgically implanted device that works inside the body to treat sleep apnea. Inspire delivers mild stimulation to key airway muscles, keeping the airway open based on the patient’s unique sleeping and breathing patterns, allowing oxygen to flow naturally.

The Inspire system, including a small generator, breathing sensor lead, and stimulation lead, is implanted in the outpatient setting, and controlled with the handheld Inspire sleep remote.

“In our practice we see many patients who have stopped using or are unable to tolerate CPAP,” said Kiran Tipirneni, M.D at The Ear, Nose, Throat and Plastic Surgery Associates. “Inspire represents a significant advancement in treating moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in those individuals where CPAP has failed. Compared to CPAP, Inspire has had a higher level of patient satisfaction and a higher therapy adherence. And compared to prior surgical treatment options, Inspire can be performed as an outpatient procedure, it has a decreased post-operative healing period, and the results are significantly and consistently better. We are very excited to offer this promising therapy to sleep apnea patients who struggle with CPAP.”

Inspire therapy is safe and clinically proven. Peer-reviewed, published data shows patients using Inspire experience:

· 79% reduction in sleep apnea events1

· 88% reduction in bed-partner reported snoring1

· 93% overall patient satisfaction2

Inspire is specifically for patients who:

· Have been diagnosed with moderate to severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea

· Are unable to use, tolerate, or derive benefit from CPAP

· Are not significantly over-weight

· Over age 18
