The nostalgia of the Roaring 20's returned to Central Florida on Saturday, October 28, 2017 as nearly 600 guests helped commemorate Shepherd's Hope's 20th anniversary by attending its annual Famous Faces Masquerade Ball at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando®. The goal was to raise funds to continue to provide free healthcare for the uninsured and underinsured at its five health clinics in Orange and Seminole counties. The philanthropic-minded guests shimmied and bid on auction items while enjoying gourmet dining and world-class entertainment by the Cotton Club Parade. Dressed in flapper dresses and zoot suits for the event, the costumed guests brought their best moves, raising more than $380,000 in support of this worthwhile cause. The entire evening was focused on shining a light on the increasing community need for free medical care for the uninsured men, women and children in our community.
"The proceeds of Shepherd's Hope Famous Faces Masquerade Ball are essential and will have a profound impact on the lives and health of thousands of Central Floridians," said Marni Stahlman, CEO/President of Shepherd's Hope. "Every dollar generated allows for more individuals to receive vital healthcare services at our health centers. With an all-volunteer medical team and thousands of general volunteers, Shepherd's Hope is poised in 2017 to exceed the 17,128 patients cared for in 2016. The dollars raised at Famous Faces will help us to continue these valuable services in the future."
During the entertaining evening, the West Orange Healthcare District was honored with the Maryanne Brown Award of Distinction for their unqualified faith and commitment to address the health and wellness needs of the growing West Orange community through the funding of healthcare programs and the expansion of healthcare services, including the new Shepherd's Hope Medical Clinic in Winter Garden, scheduled to open in fall of 2018.
