Eddie Fisher climbs in honor of his father to raise money to end lung disease
This Saturday, February 19th, Eddie Fisher along with his Raymond James team, will take on 1,000 steps at Exploria Stadium for the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb.
“Some of our team walks together, but I just say I’ll see you at the end. We all get the same rush, same satisfaction, and same reward at the end – we finished! And we all know we supported a very noble charitable cause,” shares Fisher.
Fisher’s team along with 28 other teams including other corporate teams, families and first responders, will climb to raise awareness for lung cancer and lung disease, and funds for the organization’s COVID-19 Action Initiative.
Looking back almost 5 years ago, Fisher recalls being invited to speak at a local Better Breather’s Club meeting in honor of his father, Lewis Fisher, Jr. who passed away from COPD. “At that meeting, I was introduced to Janelle Hom, Executive Director of the American Lung Association. I was inspired and fully charged from all that she shared about the organization,” shares Fisher. “Janelle was relatable and passionate about why everyone needs to support the Lung Association and continued to shed light on the direct impact I could have on raising funds for lung health research, advocacy and education and how my involvement would make a difference. I was hooked!”
“I have made supporting the Lung Association my mission in life by practicing healthy eating habits, exercising, supporting clean air initiatives, and integrating charitable giving into my business platform. As a financial planner, I work to educate my clients to support sound, mission driven organizations so they feel like their contributions are impactful. I share my personal experience with the Lung Association, not to ‘sell’ my passion, but to provide that personal and practical experience,” Fisher said.
With less than a week away from the Fight For Air Climb Orlando, Fisher beams with pride as he now serves as the Vice Chairman of the Regional Leadership Board for the Lung Association, is the immediate Past Chair of the Local Leadership Board for the Lung Association, and most recently coordinated a regional partnership for the Lung Association with Raymond James. This partnership challenges Raymond James offices to raise funds, create climb teams and support the Lung Association.
“I hope to build this partnership so my colleagues and friends can feel the same thrill and excitement I feel every day knowing that I’m making a true impact and helping to save lives,” said Fisher.
Money raised at the Fight For Air Climb will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease, as well as support the organization’s COVID-19 Action Initiative. The COVID-19 Action Initiative is a $25 million investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics.
The Fight For Air Climb will take place at Exploria Stadium this Saturday, February 19. Registration is $35 and includes a $100 fundraising minimum. For more information, and to register, visit FightForAirClimb.org/Orlando.
