Hispanic Heritage Month Salute
Denisse Centeno has done an amazing job as the Executive Director of Hispanic Family Counseling (HFC), a mental and behavioral health services agency located in Central Florida.
Her agency has won the trust of the Hispanic community, not only because of the high quality services provided, but for the affordability of those services.
Even though 2020 was a difficult year for everyone, Denisse kept her focus on serving the Hispanic community, and still offered services for those uninsured based on a sliding scale fee chart. In addition, HFC kept on going with its “In-Kind Services” for many activities that supported the community during the global health emergency like donating face masks and hand sanitizers.
In Denisse's words "Giving back to our community is our priority but giving back to our staff and employees is our responsibility." The reason why - Denisse found the way to keep most of the team together during the pandemic by applying for different grants and funds until the lockdown was over, and serving clients began to return to normal. She also offered monthly team building activities for employees and their families along with the monthly paid self-care hours employees have.
In 2020, HFC started offering telehealth services for all its specialties, and invested in a more efficient electronic health record system to efficiently increase the number of people that could be served.
Finally, to improve service for clients, employees and the Central Florida Community in general, HFC moved to a bigger office space in May 2021, which has contributed to more comfort and compassion from clinicians to keep improving people's lives.
Everything Denisse does, she does with love and succeeds because of all her hard work.
