SANFORD – Central Florida Regional Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare’s North Florida Division – Orlando Market, announced today an expansion of its orthopedic program capabilities, which now offers two robotic arms specifically for joint replacement surgeries.
Using a robotic arm for joint replacements has proven to be more precise and effective than traditional surgical techniques. Guided by a 3-D model, a surgeon can use this technology to position a knee or other joint implant more accurately, resulting in smaller incisions and a faster recovery.
Central Florida Regional Hospital is the only hospital in Seminole, Orange, Lake and Volusia counties to implement the ROSA® Knee System. In addition, the hospital installed the Mako SmartRobotics™ technology last fall. The two systems ensure orthopedic surgeons have more options to better serve their joint replacement patients and provide the most personalized care.
“Less pain and a faster recovery make robotic surgical treatment a worthwhile option for adults living with painful, mid- to late-stage osteoarthritis,” said Trey Abshier, CEO of Central Florida Regional Hospital. “Robotic technology allows our surgical team to position a joint implant specifically for each patient’s anatomy. This personalized surgical approach is a game changer when it comes to patient recovery, rehab and quality of life post-joint replacement surgery.”
Central Florida Regional Hospital holds The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® for total knee replacement. The hospital’s multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive orthopedic care to treat patients with conditions affecting the shoulders, spine and joints.
