If you or a loved one have diabetes, the Department of Health in Marion County is holding a class starting next week in Belleview that will help you successfully control it. The department is holding the first class in a six-class series on diabetes management starting May 14 at the Belleview Public Library.

The six-class series will help individuals learn more about diabetes and the changes residents may need to make to their daily habits to ensure they can effectively control the disease. The classes will cover: understanding diabetes, risk factors, eyes, teeth, toes and feet, physical activity, meal planning, preventing complications, and medications and medical care. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon from May 14 through June 18 at the Belleview Public Library (13145 SE County Highway 484, Belleview).

.

The sessions are open to anyone to attend; individuals who are age 65 and older and/or Medicare recipients are particularly encouraged to go to the classes. Interested residents should pre-register to ensure sufficient class materials are available. To register or find out more information, contact Demi Danso at 352-644-2618 or Demi.Danso@FLHealth.gov.
