ORL GR March We Care of Lake County Celebrates 20 Years
We Care of Lake County, a physician access network supported and led by the Lake-Sumter Medical Society, celebrated their 20th anniversary with a Moonlight Gala on the Lake. The festivities were held on January 30 at the newly completed Tavares Pavilion on the Lake, honoring their founding fathers and recognizing volunteer physicians. The black-tie event featured the Chris Charles Jazz Quartet with dancing and dining following a brief ceremony. Founder, Tully Patrowicz, MD, was overwhelmed by the accolades directed to him for his vision and efforts in forming this non-profit designed to help the underserved and uninsured adults in Lake County. Senator Alan Hays was quick to praise Dr. Patrowicz and other doctors for their perseverance and generosity, and Lake County Commissioner, Leslie Campione, presented a Proclamation, naming January 30, 2015 as We Care of Lake County Day.
Peter Morrow, MD, Selected as New President of Catholic Medical Association
On February 4, 2015, Dr. Peter Morrow, Internal Medicine physician and employed physician at St. Cloud Regional Medical Center, was sworn in as the President of the Catholic Medical Association (CMA). Dr. Morrow is now the 2015 President of the largest association of Catholic health care professionals in the United States.
Dr. Morrow is a Board Certified Internist with added qualifications in Geriatric Medicine. He has been practicing in St. Cloud and Osceola County for over 20 years.
As a community-oriented and faith-driven physician, Dr. Morrow has placed a lot of emphasis on serving those around him. Dr. Morrow is highly involved in his church, including leading as the Medical Director at the church’s free clinic, St. Thomas Aquinas Medical Clinic.
Dr. Morrow has also been very involved in the Osceola County Council on Aging, which assists the elderly, disadvantaged, and disabled in Osceola County. The Council on Aging runs a free medical clinic where Dr. Morrow sees patients and serves as Medical Director.
Bert Fish Medical Center Earns ACR Ultrasound Accreditation
Bert Fish Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound as the result of an extensive review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body parts to help providers diagnose illness, injury, or other medical problems.
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards, following a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
