Florida ENT Surgical Specialists, based at Florida Hospital Celebration Health, has added another award-winning specialist with the arrival of James S. Atkins, Jr., MD, and his highly-experienced team of audiologists. Dr. Atkins is board certified in neurotology and otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat), with specialized training in disorders of the inner ear.
A Florida native, Dr. Atkins received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine where he went on to complete a residency in Otolaryngology. He followed this with a fellowship in neurotology at Otologic Medical Group. He served for more than six years as staff otolaryngologist-head & neck surgeon in the U.S. Air Force on Lackland Air Force Base, and is a former medical director of the Florida Hospital Vestibular Center. Dr. Atkins is nationally recognized as one of the top Otologists in Central Florida.
Now treating hearing and balance disorders Dr. Atkins brings with him four highly experienced audiologists, allowing FESS to now offer comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for wide range of hearing and balance disorders. Elizabeth Aitken, AuD, FAAA; Nicole Derda, AuD, CCC-A, FAAA; Chelsea Humpert, AuD, CCC-A, FAAA; and Katherine Perry, AuD, CCC-A, FAAA work in collaboration with FESS physicians evaluating patient hearing and balance, fitting and rehabilitating hearing devices, and providing patient and caregiver education and support.
