The Central Florida Women in Medicine continue their rapid growth as they hosted an extremely successful event this week at Cavanaugh's Fine Wines in Edgewater. The special interest group has been gaining participation as it continues to bring together female physicians from around the community to share common interests.
The Women in Medicine has been led for the past several years by Dr. Leena Anderson with the Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology Associates of Central Florida. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Medical Society, Dr. Anderson has been instrumental in cultivating the group with a focus on the unique needs of female physicians practicing in the region.
The mission of the Women in Medicine is to provide a social atmosphere for sharing common interests as well as generate relationships that can be both personally and professionally rewarding. The group meets several times throughout the year and most recently launched a Facebook page to enhance communications. https://www.facebook.com/womeninmedicinecentralflorida/
Given the focus of the OCMS on physician wellness and the growing number of female physicians practicing in the community, the Women in Medicine are poised for tremendous growth and influence in future years.
