Lake Sumter Medical Society
I’m happy to report that Lake-Sumter Medical Society is busy and active!
MEMBERSHIP MEETING – by the time this goes to print, our September Membership meeting will be a happy memory. Many thanks to those who joined us for a delicious meal at the lovely Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora which featured a presentation on Disaster & Recovery Planning for the Physician Practice. Special thanks to Mr. Joseph Putz with First Professionals Insurance Company, for an informative and timely topic.
EXPO 2008 – We are thrilled to offer this annual event spotlighting major community and state-wide medical services, merchants and service providers anxious to share information and benefits of their product or services. Using last year’s successful event as a springboard, EXPO 2008 will also spotlight services for the office staff, complete with the ever popular massage chairs! Join us for a fabulous evening of hors d’ourves, refreshments of your choice, door prizes and plenty of fun! Last year’s successful EXPO challenges us to raise the bar this year, so be prepared for a bigger and better event!
Self Promotion! Why not? This is a large event, and is well attended. Physicians are encouraged to purchase a booth to share new techniques, upcoming trends, and innovative services available in your practice. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity! EXPO 2008 is open to all physicians, nurse practitioners, office administration, and medical support personnel in Lake and Sumter Counties. Join us on Wednesday, November 5, at Lake Receptions, 4425 Hwy. 19A, Mount Dora, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.
WE CARE – Lake County residents benefit from the medical expertise of 84 wonderful doctors who give of their time to provide specialty services. These physicians have seen 170 patients this year, but Executive Director, Kevin McFall reports that there are more that 130 patients waiting for help. Physicians are needed in all specialties; however, there is a great need for cardiologists, urologists, endocrinologists and gastroenterologists.
We Care serves residents of Lake County who have residency established for the prior six months with a diagnosed condition requiring specialty care that is not elective or cosmetic. In addition, clients of We Care must be between the ages of 18 and 65 and have household income 200 percent or less of the federal poverty level guidelines. Clients must be uninsured and not seeking disability, nor involved in litigation for worker’s compensation, accident or other claims. We Care physicians receive sovereign immunity and the flexibility to incorporate indigent patients into their schedules. For more information interested physicians should call 352-742-6595.
