Florida Board of Medicine Invites AID to Speak on Credentialing Issues and You Can Help

Ever have a problem with hospital credentialing? Have you or a colleague ever been denied an application to apply for privileges, been denied privileges, or had your privileges terminated without cause? Please let us know.
Next Thursday, AID Executive Director Marni Jameson Carey will be presenting to the Florida Board of Medicine on the topic of "hospitals denying privileges to physicians based upon contractual relationships with other physicians or for economic reasons."
AID Executive Committee member Dr. Steven Lester will also be presenting on this subject, which is common among independent doctors. We believe that hospitals should grant all qualified physicians privileges to practice, as that affords the best access to care for patients. However, hospitals often grant or deny privileges based on what is in their best economic interest.
If you would like to contribute to the discussion, please call the AID office at 407.571.9316 or email your remarks to us at info@aid-us.org by Tuesday, Jan. 30.
